TLC-Artistic Endeavors is a website devoted to the photography and paintings of Thomas (Tom) L. Cato.
A native of Valdosta, Georgia, Tom has lived in Savannah, Georgia for the past 35+ years. He is a former K-12 art teacher and former artist-in-resident for the State of Georgia. He is recognized as Professor Emeritus of Art and Art Education at Armstrong State University in Savannah, Georgia, now known as the Armstrong Campus of Georgia Southern University.
Following his retirement as an arts administrator in 2017, Tom has focused his time and energy on renewing his painting and photography career. Recently he exhibited in a two person show at the Averitt Center’s Rosengart Gallery in Statesboro, Georgia and another one at the Portman Gallery at Glynn Visual Arts on St. Simons Island. Georgia.
Tom enjoys exploring the fragile relationships that exist between people and the environment. At times he explores the formalistic principles of design while intertwining his work with ideas of humankind, both good and bad.
Tom makes photographs and paintings for his own pleasure and personal growth; however, he also enjoys sharing them with others. Images and interpretation of his environment, including nature and man-made objects, have been a part of his visual art repertoire for many years.
