Artist Statement

My background as a painter heavily influences final decisions that I make in my photographic work.  For example, manipulating work with a photographic filter in order to create a watercolor like effect.  The abandoned greenhouse and barn associated with the Reynolds Mansion on Sapelo Island, Georgia, provided the perfect vehicle for my exploration. In the case of the Sapelo Greenhouse, when successful, the results transcend my own interpretation to allow each viewer their own personal interpretation of the mysterious beauty of a man-made environment falling into disrepair and being reclaimed by nature.
